Collaboration Approach
Parent ~ Caregiver Education / Support
Support for parent(s) or caregiver consultations are available and often coincide with support services for the child to ensure that all facets of an individual’s encountered community are working in sync to support a common goal.
School / Observation & Collaboration
Collaboration with school social worker/psychologist and teachers allow for synergy and support as a team to focus on identified goals. Virtual as well as onsite observations are utilized as a vehicle to educate, model and identify function(s) of behavior(s) that may be deemed as “in excess” or “deficit.”
All clinicians at Anan & Sunwoo work collaboratively with each client to develop an individualized treatment plan that is specific to the client’s needs. These clinicians utilize evidence-based therapy techniques commonly stemming from the following modalities:
ABC Approach
Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT)
ACT combines psychotherapy and clinical behavior analysis. It is an empirically based psychological intervention that uses acceptance and mindfulness strategies coupled with behavior-change strategies to increase psychological flexibility. Clinicians will support and foster a mindset of embracing an understanding and acceptance of all thoughts and emotions.
Behavior Therapy (BT)
BT is a structured approach that involves careful measurement of behavior and seeks to increase an individual’s engagement in positive or socially reinforcing activities. Difficult goals are broken down into small, manageable steps that gradually build toward the overall aim. Concepts of ‘shaping’ a behavior from one step forward is embraced to promote a growth mindset.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
CBT is a form of psychotherapy that treats problems and boosts happiness by modifying dysfunctional emotions, behaviors and thoughts. CBT focuses on solutions and encourages individuals to challenge disordered cognition(s) and alter ineffective patterns of behavior. Awareness is increased by highlighting the connection stemming from thoughts – feelings – behaviors.
